Hector Olivera is “able to leap musical traditions with a single bound” and “dares to go where no serious musician has gone before”

Robert Tall and Associates, San Dimas, California, installed the
Los Angeles Bel Air Presbyterian post-earthquake Casavant/Rodgers hybrid
pipe/digital organ. Hector Olivera improvises on nine familiar Christmas carols
plus Shubert’s Ava Maria and Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus. Those of
us who labor in the weekly vineyard can only be dazzled by the musical gifts of
the sort Mr. Olivera demonstrates here. He is a fluent and imaginative composer
at the keyboard. The CD shows what he can do and what Rodgers can do – brilliant
sound, astounding playing. A lesson in registration as well as in improvisation,
this demonstration CD worth having. Silent Night requires almost 14
minutes, the whole recital almost 70 minutes. (Lots of vox humana!)
